Message from the President, Richard Brothers

Hello, and thank you for making this visit to the Cape and Islands United Way web site.  If you have visited before, thank you.  If you have visited to learn more about the Cape and Islands United Way, thank you for your interest in our community.

The past few months have certainly been unusual times for folks invested in our economy.  That investment reminds me that the Cape and Islands United Way has been investing donor dollars toward the needs of the people of Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket for almost 50 years.  With the generosity of our donors, we have addressed the issues of homelessness, domestic violence, mentoring of young people, care for our senior population, literacy, basic human needs, and on and on.  In fact, we are the single largest non-governmental funder of human services in our region.

We are able to invest in programs that help people - right here!

Our thanks goes to the thousands of generous donors who realize that it takes a network of agencies providing programs to address the needs of persons who hit the occasional 'speed bump' in their lives.

As you take the time to review the needs of our community and see the ways we have re-invested donor dollars in our community, I hope you will consider using our web site as a means to make a gift or volunteer to be part of the Cape and Islands United Way investors.

Our return on your investment in people here is unmatched.  Please consider making your first gift of the holiday season to your community through the Cape and Islands United Way.  Just click on the 'Donate' button or 'Giving and Volunteering.'

And thank you again for your interest.

Rich Brothers, President

Mission

The mission of the United Way is to improve peoples lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities.

Across the country, the United Way activates community resources to make the greatest possible impact. The United Way system includes approximately 1,400 community-based United Way organizations. Each is independent, separately incorporated and governed by local volunteers.

The United Way brings communities together to focus on the most important human needs- building partnerships, forging consensus and leveraging resources to make a measurable difference. Focus areas are identified at the local level and vary from community to community.

Cape and Islands United Way

Our mission is to increase the organized capacity for people on Cape Cod and the Islands to care for one another and to improve the human condition of the region.

We are a leader in improving the human condition of our residents through the responsible development and deployment of financial, human and collaborative resources for the quality of life of current and future generations.

We are focused on:

Nurturing and Protecting Children and Youth
Supporting and Sustaining Families
Support for Aging and Vulnerable Populations

The Cape and Islands United Way provides program funding and service in every town on Cape Cod and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
